Buying checklist

We've come up with a checklist of all the stages you must go through when purchasing a home. Although most of the work is carried out by solicitors and estate agents, it’s best to keep track of each stage of the purchase. 

         
1.       View house       
2.       Offer made       
3.       Offer accepted
4.       Property taken off market          
5.       Obtain offer from mortgage lender in writing    
6.       Appoint solicitor/conveyancer  
7.       Arrange survey and set date for it to take place
8.       Agree on an exchange date       
9.       Organise funds for deposit and bills        
10.   Organise buildings and contents insurance from exchange date
11.   Exchange contracts and set a completion date  
12.   Arrange to pick up the keys to your new home!
